Not quite an old fashioned classic "guitar pull", Joe Ely & Paul Thorn tell stories about the things that inspired them to write and sing classic Americana in this one of kind performance.

Joe Ray adds his thoughts around the show:
**********************************************************
This concert was simply a two person song circle where Joe Ely and Paul Thorn traded songs. Most of the songs that Joe Ely played were from his personal catalog and not the Flatlanders except Jimmie Dale Gilmores Tonight Im Gonna Go Downtown. Never the less it was great to see two professional songwriters ply their craft instead of being surrounded by a band.

This recording was from the side of the Music Box Supper Club on the Banks of the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland and was made on a Sony M-10 with DBA 4060 matched pair of mics and a battery pack.

I was out of state during this concert but I thank my 86 year old mom and her grandson Chris for the recording they made of this great performance. Joe Ely was a good friend as I spent many days with him on the Roots On The Rails train going cross Canada and also on the Kachina Trip in 2008 to La Posada.

With Joe Ray not available we thank his mother and grandson maning the deck for this show, they do a fine job...it's not quite up to Joe Ray's masterful recording so we're sticking to 16/44 for this release.
