Joe Louis Walker is an extraordinary musician, talented blues guitarist and
amazing vocalist his peers say he has a "Cadillac" for a voice and you have
to witness it to believe it.

Playing in bands since his teens, he has crossed paths with many of the blues
greats we have come to know like Johnny Lee Hooker, Buddy Miles, Otis Rush
Thelonius Monk, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, John Mayall, Earl Hooker, and also
Jimi Hendrix among others where he honed his craft and along that path he met
Mike Bloomfield and they became good friends until his untimely death.

That event changed Joe's life thereafter he became involved in the church and was
performing regularly with the Spiritual Corinthians Gospel Quartet while enrolled
in college. After a 1985 performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival he
was inspired to return to his blues roots whereupon he formed the "Bosstalkers" and
signed to the HighTone label.

Since then, Joe Louis Walker has paved a path full of accomplishment winning many
music awards & grammy's along the way with a very respectable catalogue of music
under his belt he say's he's just getting started.

This was my first time seeing The Joe Louis Walker Band, i have heard many good thing's
about Joe Louis Walker especially from owner Brian Remaley who happens to be a friend of
the family as they say and he raves about this guy, i'm sorry i have missed seeing him
several times in the past but this band is electric, energetic, dynamic loaded with some
very emotional gutwrenching music, from the earthy roots flavors to gospel to blues then
rock, they mix it up on stage everchanging the tempo and it's all good.

Someone who is also in this band is backup vocalist Bertha Blades who is a fantastic voice
who get's deep down & dirty and sultry at the same time, sort of Janis Joplin/Grace Sick
at times but this band is fantastic when they all take turns showing off a bit, Joe Louis
Walker can be sweet and roar when he wants too, Eric Finland brings a nice touch on keys
as well as "Speedo" on harmonica who trades licks with Joe on guitar, all in all a really
enjoyable evening that had The Michael Packer Blues Band opening the show.

If you don't know the Joe Louis Walker Band and like great music, check them out!
