CONTRAST CLAUSE: There is a native 96kHz version of this recording because I feel it's warranted. Great venue acoustics and a decent effort from the sound guy makes an overall sweet sound for this recording. While not as good as Roger Waters' "The Wall" tour recording, it's a close second!

Joe Satriani - Live at State Theatre in Sydney, Australia
November 6, 2014

Source/Lineage: Core Sounds Cardioids (pointed towards stage to minimise crowd noise) -> Sony PCM-M10 (mic-in, 96kHz 24 bit) -> Soundforge 11.0 w/Izotope Ozone 5 Mastering Plugin -> FLAC Level 8 (downsampled to 48kHz)

Recorded, mastered and processed by: Yours truly ... Starclassic.

Location: Mezzanine level, slightly stage left.

Notes:
This guy needs no introduction. Yes, I did find some of his pieces still somewhat lacklustre but that's the prog snob in me I suppose. Nevertheless, he is definitely a must-see (and listen) guitarist. Admittedly, the attraction for me was to see Marco Minnemann play his drums but I was pleasantly surprised at how much more Joe entertained me compared to the last time I saw him at G3 in Sydney back in 2007.

The sound guy did a decent job and it certainly helped that the venue acoustics made the job that much easier for him. Midrange needed a bit of taming and a chunk of bottom end needed boosting but overall, this was a joy to work with, even if it still took a little longer than usual.

...and please, don't sell this bootleg, otherwise you're just plain old scum. That and Joe will put a stone in your face.
