I don't really know anything about the background to this performance. I can only quote the official flyer: "John Cale, Sterling Morrison and Moe Tucker will perform new music to accompany Andy Warhol's silent films Kiss and Eat". (Or "Eat" and "Kiss" - the order is not consistent!)

I do know that John, Sterling and Moe intended to repeat their performance at the Festival De Lille in October 1995. After Sterling's death on August 30th, John, Moe, BJ Cole and the Soldier String Quartet went ahead anyway: that performance was dedicated to Sterling's memory and subsequently issued commercially.

This is a reasonable audience recording but there's a fair level of background noise - the recorder was possibly some way from the stage, or was hidden in a bag. It's also incomplete - the beginning of track 01 appears to be missing, and there's a break about 4 mins 10 secs into track 02 (where the original C90 tape was turned over?). I cut out the applause between the two pieces and after the end of track 02 - none of the performers spoke to the audience.
