This was my first John Fogerty concert.
He was the major supporting act for Tina Turner in her twenty four seven - millenium tour.
(There was another band before Fogerty's performance but for me their impression didn't last 5 minutes after they finished)
I was surrounded by some hysterical Tina Turner fans shouting during Proud Mary "Ooh he's doing a Tina Turner song!"
The taper also had his troubles with some too enthousiastic Tina Turner fans and you can hear him asking them to keep it down a bit.
(That is if you understand Dutch). Fortunately they do.
When I heard the rumour that John Fogerty was touring Europe with Tina Turner the Groningen concert was already sold out
I thought that that was my bad luck, but a client, Fred, who owned a CD wholesale company back then came to the rescue.
He phoned a few contacts in the music business and arranged two tickets for me. For free... The second ticket was for my son
My daughter accompanied me to her first (and so far only) John Fogerty concert almost 10 years later; Cologne July 9, 2010.
I still am grateful that Fred did this for me. As lifetime fan I will never forget my first John Fogerty concert, some 30 years after I bought my first CCR single..
I bought this concert directly from the taper. He charged too much for it but I really wanted an everlasting memory to this concert.
I have no idea what recording device he used, but it sounds good, so it must have been a good one (at least for those days)
The Tina Turner concert was being filmed for Dutch TV and I know John Fogerty's performance was filmed as well.
Needless to say I really would like to see that video, but it is probably stashed somewhere in the archives of the NOS ("The Dutch BBC")
I have said this here before; If anyone of you has uncirculated John Fogerty (Which is not for sale on the internet), please share it here.
And if you cannot upload it, send me a PM and we'll work something out.
Support the artist: buy his CD's, DVD and LP's
And even better: Go to a John Fogerty concert. You won't be disappointed!!!

Nothing to do with Fogerty, but really nice music in the style of The Eagles and CSN&Y
Enjoy!
