I'm old and have known this music since it began but I wasn't expecting the nostalgia when some of these tunes were played. I can check this off my bucket list as it's one of the very few bands I'd never seen from the old days.
I had real doubts about the show as thunderstorm cells abounded for hours before and then during the start of the show,.. which was delayed one hour due to them. The Amphitheater has a weekend curfew so shows can't go past XX hour. John decided to not have his opening act which includes his two sons (both guitarists) and went right into his show. Both the sons are in his band. The roadie and John were very active in his switching out instruments at the end of tunes as when one would end he jumped right back into the next. Genuinely concerned in giving his fans a good show before the next storm cell came along.

John barely paused to talk though when he did even that was short. Towards the end, when he spoke about winning the rights back to his own music, a roadie wheeled out a small cart with champagne glasses and he blessed us with a toast thanking us for loving his music all these years. All members of the band came out with a glass to join him.

I made a point of complimenting the sound mixer at the end on my way out ,.. one of the best mixes I'd heard at this venue and I'm not of fan of this one. For me a bit loud (recall, I'm old) but I thought each instrument had a good presence. It was good to hear a Hammond B3 again.
Getting to my seat with a few moments to spare before all started I was able to adjust my levels off the atmosphere music being played as it was loud as well.

I do find I usually adjust levels slightly when I get it in the PC but this one, not touching. I only wish I could have brought in my Sound Pro Audio Tech stealths but... everything included, the awful drive in that weather, the storm delay, humidity and the doubts they would even still hold the show I'm glad I muscled through it as, apparently, I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
