Who: John Fogerty
Where: Bospop, Festivalterrein Weert Noord, Weert, Netherlands
When: 2024.07.12
How:
I recorded this concert with my Roland R05 in WAV, but as it turned out I had set the recording volume too high, which ruined the recording.
But I used my Iphone XS as backup plan. The dictaphone on that I-phone has an option to record lossless in M4A which I did.
I converted the M4A file of the recording to WAV, edited and adjusted it in Music Cleaning Lab and converted into FLAC.
Although the recording sounded quite OK (especially when you consider the limitations of the small microphone in the I-phone.) I had to do more then "some"work on it to improve the recording.
Especially because the I-phone has an automatic recording level that adjusts to the volume of the sound it "hears".
Therefore the talk-sound in between the songs and the first few seconds of every song sounded way too loud. And after those few seconds of loud music the volume dropped fast to the level of the rest of the song
I have corrected it as good as I could using the volumecurve option in Music Cleaning Lab. To give you an idea; I have done it three times before I was happy with the result.
In "Born on the bayou" were a few seconds where the microphone of the phone must have connected with something. (maybe my clothes or the jacket of the guy in front of me)
I tried to pach that error with another piece of the song but I wasn't happy with the result. I sent the file to my good friend Lex and he fixed it perfectly
Due to the volumeproblem I have "shortened" the time in between most of the songs. This made it more listenable imho, because there was a lot of talking around me.
I would have liked to offer a better Roland R05 recording of this concert, but this is it. Unless... somebody else also has recorded this concert and is so kind as to share it here.
Bospop on Friday was a disaster. Extreme heavy rains in the morning had flooded the place, and where there was grass, now there was (more then foot deep) mud and water.
The parking (a field nearby) had to be closed, because all the cars got stuck in it. (after the concert lots of tractors had to pull out the parked cars)
From the alternative parkings in the town there were shuttle busses to bring you to the festival. And like always; when you finally have parked your car and walk towards the bus.... it drives away before you can get in....
This total chaos led to an almost 2 hour delay, which caused us to miss part of the Alice Cooper set, and that really sucked! Otherwise I would have shared that here...
But seeing John Fogerty delivering a wonderful concert made up for all the things that went wrong that day. On stage you cannot tell the man is 79!!!
It even made up for the fact that there were way too less busses after the concert and I did not get home before 3:30 AM. If I had (could) do it all over again I would. 100%! Friday it was kinda like Woodstock in Holland...
If anyone else out there has other John Fogerty concerts of this current tour, please share them here
(If you don't know how to upload, send me a PM and I will help you with that, or if you want me to; I will upload them for you)
Last but not least: if you have (half) the chance of seeing John Fogerty live
This was Fogerty's (and mine!) fifth time on Bospop. I do hope Bospop 2025 will be "our" 6th!!!!
