The source is thrilled to share his fm master tape and see's the Blues as being one of America's Greatest Treasure.
John pays tribute to many of the Blues greatest icons, and has kept the songs of yesteryear
alive for the new generation. He learned to play the guitar during his teen years. At some point, Hammond caught a gig
by Jimmy Reed. This moved him to play The Blues for a living.

John eventually found himself living and gigging in New York City, where he met a young Jimi Hendrix. He got him
some gigs at a local hole called the Cafe Au Go Go, leading Jimi to meet Chas Chandler. Though he never reached the heights
and status of Hendrix, Hammond did become critically acclaimed. John also worked with members of The Band, and recommended them
to one Bob Dylan. He won a Grammy in 1985 for his work on Blues Explosion, a compilation of tracks from the Montreux Jazz Festival.
As a modern day tribute to the blues, he has introduced songs and artists to a new audience that may have been forgotten
by today's younger, hipper crowd.

This is a solid show, and John pays tribute to all of the greats. It is a perfect set of solo blues for
his appearance at the second annual Chicago Blues Fest. The sound is great, and anyone who enjoys
the music of John Hammond or any of the artists he covers in his set will appreciate and enjoy this for years
to come. There were zero issues with the transfer and the tape looked brand new. There is a slight amount
of hiss, but it is very minimal. 9-9.5/10
