John Hammond (Jr) 2 shows in 1990 - Bottom Line 1990-03-16 complete late show (opener for JJ Cale) + Austin Texas 1990-10-14

As promised, here is the second of three forays into the blues.

Hey, listen... to me this guy will always be John Hammond, Jr. I know, I know, he lived in frustration for many years in the shadow of his famous father. I know he was happy to drop the "Jr" as soon as he could get away with it. How can you make your own career success when your old man was involved with the discovery of the likes of Bob Dylan and Bessie Smith?

I also know he was cut down for a long time afterwards because his own music didn't seem as good as those other musicians.

I do have news for you.

He's a very capable blues player, these are fine performances, and he doesn't need to be under anyone elses memory.

The Bottom Line tape is from my master. It's complete except for a small edit in the last track due to a tape flip. The Austin City Limits show is an audio rip from the PBS show "Austin City Limits". This show also featured Shawn Colvin.

I have very carefully researched the ACL show for commercial vendors including on the PBS website, and have not been able to locate a place to buy it. If you do find one, please notify either me or the Mods and I will take it down immediately.
