Steve's show notes:
This is one of those nights, looking back almost 20 years, that makes me feel blessed to be a taper. This artist was *nowhere* on my
radar back then, as I was a full on metalhead/alt-rock fan. However, with only 120 tickets sold, 2 shows, one night, how could the
ol' taper genes turn down such a golden opportunity? The venue, Wickersham Hall, only allowed 120 patrons per show, so I made sure to
arrive early with the girlfriend at the time and get a 'front row' seat for both shows, somewhere from 3-6 feet from his feet. With his
little amp a couple feet behind that, there was a perfect 'soundline' to capture the magic. and what delicate magic it was. His one
guitar was 'solid steel', and had a ton of intricate cuts into the body. He may have had a 2nd beat up acoustic, but I'm not sure. The
setlists, looking back, thye blow my mind. so many obscure blues tunes, covered with such humble panache (is there such a thing). and
the 'analog warmth' comes thru loud and clear.

I guess John Hammond has brushed strings with a ton of the greats over the years (check his wiki), there was a Fairbanks appearance
that was cancelled with a band about 6-7 years after this show, as he got caught in a snowstorm, in all places, Valdez!!! This was the
only time I ever taped a show here, and one other fun fact is that it is still open, though it's known as Big Daddy's Barbeque, and I'm
pretty sure it was featured during a Fairbanks area segment of that "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives" show on the Food Network.

Anyhow, thanks to Dennis for the uploading capabilities, and you never know what may rear its ugly head in the future.
