"The World Of John Hammond, Part One", featuring Marion Williams, George Benson, Red Norvo, Teddy Wilson and others, Chicago Fall 1975 FM reel-to-reel stereo simoulcast of NPR/PBS broadcast - I could swear the music is laughing!(mp3 samples included)

This is a great hour of fabulous music. Many of these performers are from the classic era and are no longer around. The joy spills all around, you can feel it immensely in the music.

A short disclaimer: This is NOT the Bob Dylan portion of this two-parter!

It's possible that this set of recordings is also from the same September 10th date that the better-known Bob Dylan set comes from, but I've been unable to prove it. What is known is that the broadcast date was around Christmas of that year.

This set comes from a lost, recently rediscovered reel to reel tape. The tape had gone missing from its cover, and had been missing for over ten years. For lying in the back of a shelf with no protection, I think it still sounds pretty good.
I'm not totally sure which instrument Benny Carter is playing on this date, and a couple of the tune names escape me. Please help out if you know!
