Total Time ::: 48:15

::: Somewhat distant, "what it is" quality. Echoplex stuff works OK, acoustic somewhat problematic. Check samples to beg off or bear with.
::: Warts: Fixed & worked on many dullspots & dropouts, but was only partially successful. #6&#9 cut.
::: Tape labeled 1974-10-05 but John played Winston-Salem, NC that nite.
::: John toured the East Coast most of the month & opened for John Sebastian at some of the gigs.

Recording Information ::: unknown stereo recording equipment -> master tape -> 2 analog generations -> 3rd generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on.

Playback 2015-04-17 ::: 3rd generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth adjusted for individual tape, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (LPCM 44.10kHz/16bit WAV files) -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, could only get a rough pitch assessment for some reason (so it's approximate - a single pass), NO equalisation] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2015-05-30.

Line-up ::: John Martyn - guitar, vocals.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

DimeTravel 129 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Assuming this is a John Sebastian headliner show, just imagine you've never heard John Martyn. "Tarzana Kid" has just come out, nothing fancy, but yr more in the mood for a little "Do You Believe In Magic" & maybe an encore of "Darling Be Home Soon". Then this unknown guy John Martyn comes out to open the show. You know his name, but have no idea what to expect. Then he starts in with the Echoplex... In any case, the Echoplex material is the most intersting here, simply because it carried its way through the air & onto the tape better. Not too many '74 Martyn shows about, so I've no doubt a few of you will be interested. Doesn't sound like the audience was too familiar with John, so I think we can rest assured he was an opening act. ALso think this was pretty much all his set (and both songs that cut do so near the end). Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
