::: Thin transistor sound for collectors - relatively clear, distant & quite listenable after some attentuation! Check samples for aural testing or to taste the tunes.
::: Warts: 9 second blank spot deleted in first track. Some dropouts were not repairable. Overall sound issues as discussed elsewhere.

Recording Information ::: unknown crappy mono recording equipment (probably condenser microphone) -> master audience tape -> 1st generation tape -> 2nd? generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on.

Playback 2012-03-12 ::: 2nd? generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth & pitch adjusted, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer, EAC secure -> wavs -> Audacity (fades &/or glitches, dropouts, volume adjustments, no EQ) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. First uploaded week of 2012-03-17.

Line-up ::: John Mayall - guitar, harmonica, vocals // Jon Mark - guitar // Johnny Almond - saxophones, flute, Jews harp(?), vocal percussion // Steve Thompson - bass.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

CoolSonics 129 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Hmmn. My first listen revisitation after 15 years I thought this was pretty poor quality. But after many, many repairs, dropout fixes & smoothing things out a bit, overall it ain't too bad if you can deal with the thin transistor sound & the fact it's a bit distant. It's fairly clear with the audience low in the mix but for one song & the music is definitely there, though the bass is low - probably for the best given the recording equipment. There is some VERY cool jamming & it makes a nice counterpart to "The Turning Point" album, as it has many of the same songs, but is some months later (the album was live at the Fillmore in July 1969). Some songs have changed quite a bit. Some quick notes (from a non-musician): "So Hard To Share" is at a completely different tempo, "Saw Mill Gulch Road" seems like the arrangement has changed, "California" is almost twice as long as the 9&1/2 minute abum version. Here it clocks in at 17 minutes & includes an extended guitar (and Jews harp?) jam with a fine raga. Then the encore, "Room To Move", which on the live album is 4&1/2 minutes of actual music, has a lot of vocal sound percussion in the Rotterdam version & the total music is more than 8&1/2 minutes. Quite fascinating changes if you know the original album well. Anyway, enjoy if it fits into yer musical mantra.

More recordings on the way, making up for years of slow netspeed. Kudos to Zongo for life support, Lochner for mikes & much more, & to Fast Freddie for runnin' Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace) for over 30 years of trading & friendship. Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Weeks, Dixon, Moore, Gough & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Parrish & all the traders who housed me thru my music acquisition & travel years. Hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Little Queenie (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
