John Mayall with a brandnew band celebrated the blues in a very nice show. The band was blistering and Rocky Athas' guitar especially prooved worthy of the spot where so many greats had been playing over the last 40+ years.

John is in good shape; he mostly played harp and keyboard and only for the new song 'Numbers Down' strapped on his guitar.

For two numbers only he called out his nephew Lee on sax; wish he had played more and also the style would be a bit closer to the wonderful 'Turning Point' period. The highlight of the show was clearly 'California' but the power of the whole show was gripping and the audience was jumping..

The recording came out nicely and his much more enjoyable for me now in my living room than it was standing in the packed room..
