From 1st Generation Cassettes

Original Recording Gear: AIWA Stereo Walkman w/AIWA Stereo Microphone

Master Cassettes copied from Nakamichi BX-125 (or BX-150) to Nakamichi CR-1A onto TDK-SA tapes

1st Gen cassettes copied and tracked using Nak CR-1A (azimuth adjusted) to HHB 830 Stanadalone.

Encoded to FLAC (Level 8) and .ffp files created using Traders Little Helper.

I met Gregg W in the early 80's when I was working at Merlin's Workshop record store. I had recorded
a couple of shows using AIWA recorders, so he bought one of his own and began recording shows. Several
of Gregg W.'s masters have been torrented on Dime. A couple of examples are his 1983 Neil Young recording
from East Lansing, MI (still on the tracker) and a Missing Persons recording from the Albuquerque Civic
Auditorium (no longer on the tracker). This torrent was digitized from my 1st generation copies of Gregg
W's master.

The Kiva Auditorium is part of the Albuquerque Convention Center, and it was created to showcase chamber
music, Broadway touring companies, ballet, and other intimate shows. It seats about 3000, with plush theater
seating and a permanent stage. Sound is usually way above average, and it's probably the best sound in town.
Rock shows are not allowed. A promoter almost got Stevie Ray vaughan in there by booking him as a blues concert,
but someone in management heard a couple of tracks from "Texas Flood", and the show had to be re-located.
During the 10 years I lived in Albuquerque, some of the shows I saw there were Tangerine Dream, John McLaughlin
(Acoustic show on the Belo Horizonte tour), and a show featuring Stephen Stills, America, and Tom Chapin. In the
1990's, Jethro Tull, CSN, and ELP have played there, but that's about as heavy as the management will allow.

Sound quality on this recording is very good. The music sounds great, but like many audience recordings,
the stage banter is a little harder to make out. The crowd really shows their appreciation, but there's not
a lot of talking outside of that.

NOTE: This is one of my first mastering efforts, created several years ago as a 2-CD Vine of the entire night's
proceedings. Disc 1 started with the Steve Morse support set from this night (uploaded to Dime 2012-06-06),
followed by the first 6 tracks of this set. Disc 2 continued with the remainder of this set. The end of Disc 1
was faded out, and the beginning of Disc 2 faded in. These fades and edits were not changed for this torrent.
If you decide to burn this to CD, it fits beautifully on 2 CD's if you burn it that way. Track indexes are not
perfect, but they are the best I could do at the time. I know of one track that starts about 1 second before
the index, but it's so close I decided not to go back and start over to fix that one spot. If someone wants to
re-track this, you are welcome to do so.

My original vine was offered on 3 Yahoo trading groups, but only 1 of the groups yielded any takers, and there
were very few stops before the vine died. To my knowledge, this is the first time it has been offered in FLAC
format or uploaded anywhere.

Here's my best stab at the setlist. Anyone who can correct or add to my info is welcome to do so.

Setlist:

01. Aspen
02. Rainbow
03. Mediterranean Sundance
04. Sonario
05. Chiquito
06. ??
07. Sichia/Guardian Angel
08. Orient Blue Suite
09. Fantasia de la Trajita
10. Splendido Hotel
----Encore w/Steve Morse----
11. ??

I have included a few photos taken by Gregg (using my Konica SLR) at the show. If we are able to determine a
proper setlist, perhaps some talented volunteer might use them to create artwork. If such a thing should come
to pass, I would appreciate it if there is a version of the artwork reflecting my original vine set-up.

I hope you enjoy the show.
