I had this up here in 2015, and am reseeding it now as I get rid of the cd-r boot, which I'd purchased long ago in NYC. Ricola also had a version of this up here in 2007. For some unknown reason, my boot had a final track beyond what's being shared here. That turned out to be the studio version of the song Nostalgia from the Mahavishnu album. I'm not sure if that was part of what I shared in 2015, but it's definitely not here now.
I've done a little re-tracking of the files this time in Audacity to separate out a few introductions, and a musical solo guitar intro preceding Trilogy. In that solo John plays in and around the song from Music Spoken Here called David. This whole performance is now also properly identified as coming from an FM broadcast feom Tulane University called the "Tool (TUL??) Shed". That might possibly suggest that the unknown venue was someplace associated with Tulane University. If anyone knows for sure, please let us know in the comments below.
This is the Trio featuring Kai Eckhardt, yet another astounding bassist, along with Trilok Gurtu. Not sure why the bass chair changed so often in John's Trio at this time, but in the 3-4 years of this project it was also held at times by Jonas Hellborg, Jeff Berlin, and Dominique Di Piazza. Not too shabby.
This is a really nice sounding show. Not sure of source, beyond what's shown above. There also might be a slight speed issue or "tape wobble" detectable in a few places. If anyone wants to try to fix that, feel free and re-seed it. All in all, if you like these artists, you'll have a fine time listening to this as it is.
Please always support these great artists by paying to see them live when they're around, and by purchasing their commercially released output.
