Comments: This recording captures John Mellencamp early in his 2024 "Live and In Person" tour in the intimate Paramount Arts Centre roughly 2 hours from Chicago. I believe this tour features basically the same setlist every night, which is fine -- a solid 100-minute runthrough of a cross-section of his career from American Fool (1983?) to the present, with a particular focus on his most commercially successful period of the late 1980s and early 1990s. He appeared to be in good spirits, and in general it was just a solid if not particularly spontaneous performance.
I was happy with the sound quality. Sound in the room was great, and the audience around me was generally respectful. There are some nearby clappers and whistlers, but not enough to detract from the music.
Check out the samples in the comments if in doubt.
