to attend the shows on this tour (health reasons).
Editing:
I had to raise the volume of June's quiet between-
song talks, and also the whole of Apache Tears and You Are My Flower.
Essentially, there is a fade-in from 100% to 200% volume at the start
of each section; the quiet sections are raised to 200%, and then there
is a fade back to the original (100%) volume. I think I managed a
fairly smooth and unobtrusive set of changes.
I also used an FFT filter for some eq'ing in CEP.
The problem of these enormous variation in volume is not trivial.
Quiet songs and spoken interludes, bordered by loud applause occur
throughout the show. One could spend a great deal of time attempting
to smooth the sound, reducing hiss (which is quite noticable in the
sections than I made louder). I pretty much tried to minimise the
extent of alteration to the original sound, however I felt that
equalisation was beneficial, and a couple of instances of feedback
in I Walk The Line were reduced. I also cleaned up a close-to-the-
microphone extraneous noise at the end of Foggy Mountain Top.
The cassette flip, originally between Foggy Mountain Top and Will The
Circle Be Unbroken was crossfade/merged. The other flip remains,
between disc #1 and disc #2. There are minor fades at the start/end
of each disc.
