Johnny Winter at Armadillo World Headquarters, Austin, Texas - November 18, 1978

Although many fans prefer the first bluesy years and many others prefer the "rock star" era, in my humble opinion Johnny proves his divinity in a later period, spanning 15 years from August 1978 till August 1993 - with "the best of the best" in between. Almost all performances are stunning, the Master on fire as ever, playing classy guitar on blues, rock or whatever, not forgetting his powerful voice.

On this torrent you'll not get the best performance or recording from 1978, but one of the rarest ones. In these first years his loyal partner was Jon Paris, playing mean bass, harmonica, guitar & singing. Jon Paris plays every Monday night at B.B.King's in New York, go and see him whenever you can. Check out his site at www.jonparis.com. On the drumkit the wild man Bobby Torello, as always like a runaway locomotive. Enjoy!

source: very good audience recording. I would rate it "excellent" for the guitar, bass and drums, however Johnny's and Jon's voices are poor, very low and distant on the final mix. It has too many cuts, mostly brief ones and on the crowd cheers between the songs; also sometimes a "hum" noise on the background, gratefully it doesn't detract from the recording too much. MP3 samplers will be provided.

No details on lineage on this one. Got it in a cdr by snail mail trade and I've just done some editions with Adobe Auditon 2.0 software to adjust levels, skip blancs and reindex the tracks.

Please be patient, my bandwidth is very limited. Another JW torrent upon requests from my list. Audio ONLY please, no DVDs for while. If you've just come aboard the boat, other JW torrents, firstly uploaded by myself, still being seeded:
