Johnny Winter in LA 1988, complete exc. audience + FM source

Johnny Winter at The Palace, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California on December 13, 1988

After those blockbuster performances in 1987, 1988 saw Johnny calmed down a little, preparing for another LP/CD release in a new label. "Winter of 88" was released in August, another very good one but ruined by a post-producion including drum machines and other tricks that Johnny himself would known only after the discs on the recordd shops. He hated it, of course, and the deal with MCA/Voyager was broken. Johnny only promoted the album on the dates in August and September, by December he barely quoted the album on shows.

This is not my fave performace in 1988 - in a near future I'll upload the show 3 days later, watch it out - but it's indeed an excellent one, besides both excellent recordings. The set list have many of favorites of mine like the slow blues "mother earth" and the slide guitar showcase "stranger blues" and JW trademark on December shows "please come home for Christmas".

The audience source has a great atmosphere, you'll feel you're in the venue, high enjoyable. And you'll get the complete set. The FM source uses two broadcasts. The bulk of it is from the first (the longest and most complete) broadcast by the King Biscuit Flower Hour Radio Show. The warm up instrumental song ("succotash") comes from the second broadcast (by West Wood One) on February 26, 1989 - the date as this recording is also known.

WARNING: a third broadcast is also known and it has one song not on the other two, "don't take advantage of me". This broadcast is much more recent, done by Japanese NHK-BS radio station. That's the reason somebody list it and I've seem italso for sell on Ebay as "live a NHK Hall, Tokyo"!!?? Johnny NEVER played in Japan! However ALL sources that I've came accross this third broadcast are MP3 sourced. I do have it and I did blend "don't take advantage of me" with the other two broadcast for my own use but I've skipped it on this torrent to comply DIME rules. Does anybody have this third broadcast NOT mp3 sourced? Please, let me know.

All recordings came from cdr trades. The KBFH source from Jeff James (roryglzep, many thanks to him). THe WW1 source and the audience recording from another pals. Nothing about the lineage on them. As always, Cool Edit Pro software was used on both sources to edit the blancs, fix some minor flaws, adjust the levels and index the tracks

sources:
CD1 - excellent audience recording, with great ambience.
CD2 - two excellent FM broadcasts.

It's very interesting to compare both sources (MP3 samples will be provided and were choosen the same songs with both sources). This is another of many examples to justify why audience recordings is preferable than professional ones, at least for me.

Please be patient, my bandwidth is very limited. Another JW torrent upon requests from my list. Audio ONLY please, no DVDs for while. If you've just come aboard the boat, other JW torrents, firstly uploaded by myself, still being seeded:
