Johnny Winter - Live At The Big Top, Riverhead NY 1996-08-10 master AUD (First Time In Circulation) mp3 samples included

This concert took place during one of the many lows of Johnny's life. Frail and reportedly using, he had dropped out of sight totally for a while. When I announced at work that I was going, one of the people there said "Him? He's still around? The janitor just plugs him in (meaning his body, not his guitar) and off he goes".

That about sums it for this concert.

The vocals are low during much of this show. That's not from being in a bad location, we were centered close to the front of the stage. It was done deliberately as he really sounded weak. He tried to make up for it though by jamming as best and for as long as he could. It's mostly an instrumental concert, and he's indeed running on automatic. You'll hear calls from the audience to turn up the vocals.

This isn't a bad show... but compare it to the 1969 Newport I posted recently.\

Sad.
