When Bonnie announced a show at the Fox Theater I knew I was going but when I
heard it was a benefite for the Sonoma and Napa fire relief I knew it would be
special. We were told that the entire amount of the ticket was going to the
fire relief fun. For those who don't recall, last fall there was a crazy fire
storm that killed many and left thousands homeless. Many of the people who
were victims have insurance and resources but most lack the necessary insurance
to rebuild or survive and given it is an agriculture area there are lots of folks
who are living in the shadows and are afraid to ask for help. The Tipping Point
organization is doing a good job raising money annd helping. I have included the
rap from the executive director as track 1. I ask that all who download give it
a listen and as he says if possible please do one of two things if you are so
inclined. Either make a donation or try and visit the area to help get the
economy going again. I never want money for the recordings I make but when
attending and recording a benefit show I do feel it is a good thing to help promote
the cause. I did the same after the 121212 Sandy Hurricane benefit and know my
recording brought in over $1,000 in donations in addition to my $2,500 ticket. I
hope for the same here. Please let me know if you do help the cause.

I got to the venue early, picked up my tickets at will call and met a nice couple
who came down from Alaska for the show. The time passed quickly then got set up
and went to my seat. I chatted with a couple behind me for a bit then Jon Cleary
came out with his band. I really enjoyed the New Orleans funk sound. The 40 minute
set flew by quickly. After a short break the executive director from Tipping Point
came out to speak and soon after Bonnie came out with her band. These are her hometown
shows so they are more casual and relaxed with friends and family in the house. This
show was no different with a special appearance by Maria Muldaur and a couple of spots
where they were deciding what to play on the fly. Seeing Bonnie like that is a real
treat. We got some of her usual hits as well as some interesting cuts that I don't
recall seeing her play. The recording came out very nice since the people around me
were great neighbors. That is always hit or miss but luckily it was good for this show.
