Notes:

I'm sure the soundcheck track is far longer than anyone needed, but I had
the recorder running so I figured I might as well include it (with most
lengthy stretches of dead air edited out). Kind of gives the feel of what
it's like sitting in the morning North Carolina sun waiting for that first
band of the day to get started.

When Jon Stickley introduced the band, he said they're "usually the weird
band at the bluegrass festival, so it's nice to be the bluegrass band at the
weird festival", which sums it up pretty well. Acoustic guitar, violin and
drums trio who play jazzy bluegrass mixed with other styles. An interesting
way to kick off Sunday morning at this year's festival.

Both the acoustic guitar and the violin were connected to octave shifting
devices so that while one was playing lead, the other was often playing bass.
That said, while watching the performance I could swear that there were
sections where both the violinist and guitarist were playing but only one
or the other was coming out of the PA system, especially early in the set.

The recording came out fairly bass heavy and muffled, but as far as I
remember that's how it sounded coming out of the PA system. I think that
was the sound the band was going for. I filtered a little low end off to
clear it up a bit. I also applied a tiny bit of hiss filter and amplified
the entire recording a lot because it was by far the quietest of the
recordings I got this year. The end result is very listenable.

The track listing above is based mostly on stage announcements and a photo
I took of a hand written set list on the stage, although the band changed
the order quite a bit from what was written. I was able to confirm some
of the titles from the "Scripting the Flip" CD (which I bought after their
set), the ones with question marks are ones I couldn't figure out or confirm.

About ProgDay:

ProgDay is an outdoor festival of progressive rock that has been held annually
since 1995. In 1996 it was expanded from one day to two and has been featuring
anywhere from eight to eleven progressive rock bands each year since, often with
related events nearby on Friday or Saturday nights. The event has been forced
indoors due to weather twice (1999 and 2002), was held online in 2020 due to
Covid, and was sadly cancelled in 2021 (also due to Covid), but every year apart
from those has seen some of the world's best progressive rock bands take the
stage at beautiful Storybook Farm.

It's definitely worth the trip if you're a prog fan and don't mind a little heat,
humidity and sun. I first went in 1997 and had such a great time that I've been
back every year since. There's really nothing else like it - most of the bands
mix and mingle with the fans, you can sit or stand literally stage-side for any
band you're particularly interested in, the atmosphere is super relaxed, the
people are friendly and the hotel pool parties have become the stuff of legend.
