This interview was conducted by TVNZ at the famed Gladstone Tavern of Christchurch, now gone, on the 4th of October 1985. The reporter is presumably Keith Tannick who did features for RWP at that time. The Modern Lovers had played a short tour of New Zealand that month with the dates as follows...

2/10/85 - Six Month Club, Auckland
3/10/85 - Town Hall, Wellington
4/10/85 - Gladstone, Christchurch

This 31 year old cassette was dying as I played it so this recording took a fair bit of boosting, channel reconstruction and editing to compile the best takes of playback before the tape distortion/stretching became a permanent feature. Sound wise, it was left completely flat with absolutely no eq or compression added to it. It was a fundamental practical exercise in digital audio archiving and the reasons to do digitize one's tape archives, particularly if they are on cheap tapes from ye olde times. Enjoy!
