::: VG+ AUD w/some bass distortion in loud parts (this Mk3 version a bit improved). Check samples for NFW, maybe-baby, or"I'm nuts over this"pontifications.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Unrepairable bass distortion thru most very loud parts (lowered bass in Mk3 EQ version in those parts but distortion remains).
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: "Mk1" is DIMER mossa's original 2021 M1-AUD transfer. Thank you, sir! (35+ years on he's still giving me music).
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is the Mk3 remaster with EQ+lite NR remaster. The Mk2 NO EQorNR remaster may be found elsewhere.
::: This tape&band line-up&between-song dialog re-writes this branch (twig?) of rock history.
::: This tape is yet another classic R&R "might of been"-the real start of Jonesy (MUCH heavier than the LPs).
::: This newly-formed&short-lived '71 Jonesy line-up fell apart before 1st Dawn LP, as the brothers disagreed on musical direction.
::: This seems to be 1st&ONLY recording of original pre-1st LP Jonesy line-up to surface. Please prove me wrong&provide tapes!
::: Jonesy was the opening act for Stud at this gig (the tape of Stud's set has circulated for decades).
::: Stud are watching Jonesy's set from the balcony&John talks from stage w/Jim Krieger at one point.
::: Stud featured ex-Rory Gallagher band Taste's rhythm section (John Wilson&Richard McCracken).
::: Anno Domini was an Irish band formed start '70 w/David Taylor(ex-Eire Apparent guitarist) &signed to Deram.
::: Anno Domini 1st LP"On This New Day"recorded late 1970 but unissued until March or April 1971.
::: UK Deram didn't license world rights for Anno Domini, so German Polydor issued the LP in "Europe".
::: John Wilson&Richard McCracken of Taste/Stud were involved w/Anno Domini on their 1st album sessions.
::: German Polydor had the Taste catalog & issued the 1st Stud LP, which is surely why Stud/Jonesy toured together.
::: David Taylor left Anno Domini after the 1st(German)issue of"On This New Day"as he felt the LP was sub-standard.
::: In 1970 Evans-Jones bros joined Anno Domini"2nd"line-up,initially touring to support the release of 1st AD LP.
::: After Taylor left AD the LP issued in UK w/NEW line-up photo w/Evans-Jones bros, who were NOT on the LP!
::: 1st Anno Domini"On This New Day"1971 LP in nice shape sells for $1200-1500 today, CD is a BIT cheaper ($15).
::: Anno Domini CD notes say band was to go in studio June'71 &start 2nd LP but no evidence was found it took place.
::: To my knowledge, NO Anno Domini recordings have ever surfaced with the Evans-Jones brothers lineup.
::: It seems that Anno Domini still existed in late '71 when Jonesy started touring, w/the brothers playing in both groups.
::: Dialog here says a 2nd Anno Domini LP called"Bad Screw"WAS recorded&due out Jan'72 (prob.German Polydor).
::: #05"Crick Crack Blues"+#07"Set Me Free"both intro'd as Anno Domini songs about to be released on"Bad Screw".
::: From the sound of the 2 songs played here, Anno Domini's 2nd LP is likely a much heavier effort than their first one.
::: AFAIK, NO songs here were ever released in any form by Jonesy on their albums. #01+09 seem entirely unknown.
::: #03 recorded for John Evans-Jones solo LP"Collage"(German BASF)issued '73or'74 (some say '71, seems wrong).
::: #11 "Daddy Rowlin"is a version of a song on Anno Domini's first album & is intro'd as"Daddy's Rowlin"here.
::: "Daddy Rowlin/Statesboro Blues/My Babe"medley has another song after"My Babe"("Early In The Morning"?).
::: After this Jonesy line-up split, John got David Paul&Jim Payne of National Head Band +Jimmy Kaleth for Jonesy (Mk-II).
::: "No Alternative" 1st of 3 1970s Jonesy LPs on Dawn arrived mid '72 but only John Evan-Jones was left in the line-up.
::: Evans-Jones bros were in Aussie 60s group Chaos&Co. a.o.(&later played on Ray Thomas #1soloLP"From Mighty Oaks").
::: Bernie Hagley played some w/UK late 60s Vanity Fare, played off&on w/Jonesy & was in Tranquility in the early 70s.
::: Only credit found for Terry Cutting drums was The Originals w/Arthur Kay 1988 UK ska 45, but there must be more.
::: In 2007"Ricochet (Pioneering In 1972-73)"CD issued. An early '70s experimental music"big band"Jonesy w/10 musicians.
::: Both bros on"Ricochet"sessions BUT each on SEPARATE trax(!) &Hagley on 2. Alan Bown involved&played w/Jonesy in '07.
::: In 2003"Sudden Prayers Make God Jump"CD issued- A 1974 prev.unissued Jonesy LP w/both bros,Hagley&2 others.
::: In 2007 a "new"Jonesy (2 bros+2 others) issued a new album entitled "Dark Matter (Inner Space)" on CD.
::: Excerpts of (headliner) STUD tape notes from this SAME show, slightly adapted! "found master reel in taper's house deep down in a box" (Stud was John Wilson drums: ex-Them&Taste//Richard McCracken bass: ex-Taste//Jim Cregan guitar: ex-Blossom Toes//John Weider violin,piano,guitar: ex- Eric Burdon's Animals&Family). A SUPERGROUP, you NEED their albums! MOSSA: Here's the story to this little beauty: in the 80's I had my favourite record store in Munich. The owner was a music lover too, we started chatting on 'this band&that band'&talked about concerts we'd been to. He told me that he went to several very obscure shows aound his hometown of Coburg&even recorded a few with his father's UHER Report reel machine&said several of these recordings 'must be stored somewhere in my cellar'. We searched his house as I was curious about his reels. After searching for over an hour we found a storage box w/totally damaged reel tapes - there they were! 95% were not useable anymore & 3or4 had"survived"his bad treatment. He allowed me to take the 2 best to my house&transfer them to see what was on them (nothing was labeled properly). So I did&coudn't believe my ears: 'this must be Stud'-the follow-up band by former TASTE members John Wilson&Richie McCracken. I had the 2 Stud albums&immediately realized it was them, somewhere live, taped by this guy. I transfered them to cassette tape using my own UHER Reel tape machine. When I called my friend he told me that I was right, he had recorded Stud sometime on a cold winter night around '70or71. He said he might have some more info on the date somewhere (he remembered the venue right away)&started searching. A few days later he called&told me that he found a note in one of his schoolbooks(!) - so the date here is most likely correct."

Recording Information ::: UHER Report portable mono reel-to-reel tape recorder/microphone (probably w/ALC on) -> master mono audience reel -> ('80s transfer w/different UHER) -> 1st generation cassette -> (2021-04-xx) digital transfer to 44.1kHz/16bit wav -> flacs.

Remastering 2021-05-xx ::: 1st generation 44.1kHz/16bit wav flacs -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset (NOT to normalize volume), channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, clap, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, #01-10 -2.6% & #11-14 -2.15% averaged pitch (speed) fixes with single pass per segment after frequency analysis, lite equalisation applied on loud distorted bass sections & in #04 ~45sec&15sec muffled spots plus 2 small 49/50Hz notches to lower cyclical hum), lite noise reduction applied to lower hum&hiss] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. Freed 2021-05-xx.

Line-up ::: John Evan-Jones - acoustic & electric guitars, keyboards(?), vocals // Trevor "Gypsy" Evan-Jones - electric bass, vocals // "Bernie" Bernard Hagley - saxophone, backing vocals? // Terry Cutting - drums, percussion // (NOTE: Sounds like "H.R. Wilson" is also quickly announced in the line-up, but seems like a 4-man band, so maybe a joke? for Stud's John Wilson?).

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

DimeTravel 802 ::: Thanks to the original taper PW, & DIMER mossa for the sharing! Sincere thanks to whomever uploads this for me. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This is a MISSING LINK, connecting a number of bands & some checkered rock history. For me, this is a MUCH more fascinating listen than any of the 3 Jonesy albums (I've never heard their 1974 "4th" album which finally saw the light of day in 2003). I went thru 2 of them off&on for years, & now just checked all 3 & I am still not convinced I'm a huge fan, whereas this line-up/live set indicates there was a better, heavier direction they could have chosen. #01&#3 sound like Tudor Lodge, then the electricity really begins, with #05+07 showing the heavier direction Anno Domini was apparently taking (anyone have any live tapes of that band?), on into another unknown (never to be released AFAIK) song, "Computer", with a 23 minute jammed out medley finale, mostly centered around an extended version of an Anno Domini song "Daddy Rowlin" that appeared on their ""On This New Day" album. This is before the band took off into keysprog territory with the Mellotron line-up - this is more heavy rock (early 70s "British progressive" style), but in fact, the later comparisons w/King Crimson are quite evident in "Computer". Not only are the Evans-Jones brothers playing in both Anno Domini & Jonesy in this era, but they seem a bit mixed up in their stage patter as a result - but the music is the main message & it's a HEAVY one. A lot of earfood & info in these notes - 'twas fun to research, but don't swallow more than you can digest. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
