We planned a trip to Garland, TX back in December to visit my daughter as I had not seen her house yet. To make the trip all that more worthwhile I bought 2 tickets to this show so I could take my daughter. We were there in the pavilion for 4 hours. Lots of good music for the price.

Dave Mason kicked off the evening with a short set, but a great set nonetheless. Sound was good, but then again our seats were about 80 rows back on the right side. The guy can still sing and play the guitar.

The Doobie Brothers were next. I think the sound guy did a poor job. There were 7, and sometimes 8, people on stage. Frankly, I never understood the need for 2 drummers in that band. The drums were poorly mixed, the lead guitar was decent, but the vocals seemed subdued except for whoever was singing the lead (mostly Tom Johnston). They seemed tired except for Tom. At times things got muddy which hopefully I cleaned up a bit. Good set list, though.

Journey came out a whole lot louder than The Doobies and the guitar was really loud. But hey, it's Neil Schon. I think the setlist was a good one with mostly hits (they have so many), but a good dose of the Escape album. Either I wasn't listening correctly or they sort of got screwd up on the last part of Stone In Love. It got back on track, but it sounded like a huge mess from where I was. I had never seen Journey live, but they were energetic and Steve Smith looked like he was really enjoying himself on the drum throne again. Arnel Pineda did fine, but his vocals were laden with all kinds of effects. He struggled a bit here and there, but he got the crowd singing in almost every song.

Speaking about the crowd, they were loud. The gal in front of me talked the ENTIRE show. I pitied her date. A few screamers here and there (one right next to me), but overall the recordings came out ok.

BTW, I've included some photos from each set. Some will give you an idea of how far back we were and others are just so-so.
