We secured a great spot beside a rail running from the stage to the soundboard area that put us in the DFC sweet spot. Not to mention, there wasn't anyone to our right and the people to our left were cool and enjoying the music. In other words, they weren't talking.
I hadn't heard much of Julian's material, but I'm a fan of Bob Marley and reggae in general, so I was looking forward to this one. I enjoyed his original songs and he sounds a lot like his dad on the Bob Marley songs. This turned out to be one of my favorite sets of the weekend. It's bassy, but one of the better recordings of the weekend if only for the lack of crowd talk.
Julian was about 27 minutes late, so unfortunately, his set was cut short. His slot was one hour and the set was 48 minutes. During "Stir It Up," he got a signal that he had two minutes, so he stopped the song and went into "Get Up, Stand Up" and played a bit past his time. I would have liked to have heard an entire hour, but what I heard was great.
enjoy!
