Very good audience recording with a couple God's Foot tracks, one of which still hasn't been properly released. Don't get me started. 'The Unheard Music' by X a wryly appropriate cover.

...Not to be confused with The Juliana Hatfield Fun-Boys-n-Girl Three.

The Hatfield special, her high sweet lilt, that thrill is gone. The "somewhat thin and childlike (yet forceful) vocal quality" is mostly missing and much missed. 'My So-Called Life' had long been cut short. Her 1995-tour opener and friend Jeff Buckley, drowned in May of 1997. Nirvana was all over and so was dropped from her setlist. This is Juliana just post major-label, pop-chart, career peak. Her so-called innocent-waif image was put on waivers. Enter Juliana's Blues period.

- Mine own eyes had seen Juliana about six weeks earlier in her and my home state of Massachusetts. Here she was a Hatfield and the real McCoy, a woman and a performer at Lilith Fair, all in all in a Mansfield. On a temporary wooden stage set up at the top of the hill at Great Woods under a glorious summer sun, dressed in black she played a loud electric set. Juliana performed in between sets on the main stage down below, from festival opener Paula Cole and Fiona Apple, followed soon on by the The Cardigans. I was running around between my seat in the front row and my general spot at the top of heaven hill.

- Rarities rue n rule the day here.

"It ain't like it used to be but it'll do."
