After several months of anticipation the latest CD release "Sho-Nuff Country" by The Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show on the Patuxent Music label is now available. The official release date is October 1, 2016 and is available at this time on the Patuxent Music website. The new release should be available at most retail stores on or about October 15th.
Like their last project, Sho-Nuff Country is a collection of country favorites that Karl recalls hearing on the radio and learning to play while growing up in Texas in the 1960s. It includes their acoustic country and bluegrass versions of songs made famous by Hank Williams, Bob Wills, Don Gibson, Hank Thompson, George Jones, Bill Monroe, The Carter Family and others.
The new project contains seven country classics sung by Karl, and four instrumentals by the band; Billy Hurt,Jr on Fiddle, Brennen Ernst on banjo, Kris Shiflett on bass, Justin Harrison on mandolin, and Dany Bureau on scrub board. Also featured are four vocals from Hurt and Ernest, two in duet style. All are performed in Shiflett's retrograde fashion, looking back towards the earlier glory days of bluegrass and country music from the 1940s through the 1960s.

This is my first time recording a show. I sorta lucked into the recorder the day before the festival, bought it for $50.
It is a device with very few setting but I'm very happy with the recordings. There is just a Low & High Mic Gain Setting.
I used the Low and amplified the sound. The recorder was on a mic stand Center Stage 5th Row about 50 Feet from Speakers.
You can hear my Bluegrass buddy,Tater, hollar & whistle.
Come November I plan to go record Kody Norris And The Watauga Mountain Boys. Mark Poe puts on some Bluegrass shows in Connersville Indana. Mark can be heard on the Uncle Pen Days recordings playing Bass with The Wildwood Valley Boys & guitar with Feller & Hill and the Bluegrass Buckaroos. Tom Feller is the sound engineer at Bean Blossom.
