Show notes:
It’s been awhile since Ottawa got a taste of Kathleen Edwards so I was excited to see what the band brought on a hometown show at a great festival.

It was a beautiful night…not a cloud in the sky, warm summer temperature, a bright moon…everything you could ask for.

The band was great and Kathleen (as always) had some great stage banter going on.

I suppose my only gripe about the show is that I wish the organizers would have given her a headlining spot. She was celebrating 20 years and it was a hometown show and they ended up opening for Zach Bryan. The crowd had been pounding back the beers since 5:30PM in the hot sun and by the time Kathleen Edwards took the stage there were first aid responders needing to take a few folks out who passed out and barfed everywhere. Kathleen makes some funny comments about this near the end of the set.

So I think she deserved a headline spot, but so be it. The organizers of Cityfolk do an amazing job every year and it’s my favourite festival in the city. The show was great and I hope you enjoy this recording.
