These shows are of historical interest. They are, so far, the last times that the Kinks ever performed in the US.
I attended the July 31st show. It was a strange event. The show was presented in the round. Ray seemed almost
embarrassed that they were not really there to promote anything. The "To The Bone" record had been released in
England, but wouldn't be available in the US for several months. They asked for requests and received a shower of paper
plates with song titles written on them. They seemed happy to play most of them, though I recall Ray pointing out one
of the requests was for a "B-side of a single that failed." They didn't do that one, but it was still a great night. I suspect that
some songs are missing from the July 31st show. Perhaps whoever compiled this disc decided to leave out a few repeated
songs. Then again, it was over 14 years ago. My memory might be wrong.
