An outstanding show combining one of Japans most famous drumming
companies with one of Australia's.The show was in full light for most of
the night which was great to see the musicians but a bit awkward keeping
the Zoom hidden whilst still trying to get a good enough sound level.
Being very near the front the sound got a bit hot at times but I think
the show sounds pretty good overall.
The song titles come from the official programme, I hope I've split the
tracks at the right spots. There's a couple of silent spells at the end
of a couple of the tracks as new drums are set up on stage.
P.P.C. had 3 of the Kodo drummers adopting differnt "comedic movements"
(as the programme descibed them) hence the laughter.The title comes from
the 3 drums they use....a fan shaped one (poko),a wooden fish (poku)
and a gong (chin)
The Taikoz drummers played the first song in the first set, the rest
were Kodo. In the second set,the first couple of numbers were Kodo and
then various Taikoz drummers joined in at different times.
The last couple of numbers were delirious mixtures of drum and wild
dancing...we're talking flying summersaults here across the stage
missing the near 20 people also swirling around, ribbons flying
everywhere.
It's a bit late, ironically I was flying to Japan a couple of days
later so I can't remember the exact details now.I don't think the encore
had a title
