acetboy wet master 2019-05-14
Created from the original Empress Valley bootleg.
Original mastering defeated, new master created.
The main issue with most if not all of the different
versions of this show is too much high end.
The too much high end also exacerbates a certain shimmer
in the cymbals that is probably worst during Kashmir.
So this tames that a bit. I've also adjusted the low end
a bit. The bass guitar and the kick drum really come through
very nice on this recording.
The original recording is quite mono-ish. Except during
parts of Moby Dick and Dazed and Confused when there is some
And the original is quite dry. No real room sound in the recording.
So I've done two different versions. One dry for anyone who
doesn't like the idea of added reverb. And I have the one
I will listen to mostly, a wet version with added reverb to fill out the sound.
I was at this show. I never imagined that years later a soundboard
recording would become available.
I'm including a scan of my ticket stub. It shows the original date
of the show, the date that got postponed. Jan. 27, 1975
I remember we were halfway to St. Louis on the day of the show
and we heard on the radio that it had been called off.
I'm also including some screen captures of the whole show waveform
and FFT image, before and after my work.
