Chicago B.L.U.E.S. was located at 73 8th Avenue near 14th Street from about 1991 thorough 1997. It often featured three shows a night (see the NY Magazine advert included in the file set) because it usually didn't charge a cover.

Like many blues acts, the first two songs are the backing band only, and they're great. The MC then says "for the last time this evening" and introduces Lefty. So this was probably not the early show. That's all we know. Lefty says he will introduce all of the "special guests" but never does, other than a saxophone player named Patience(?) who seems to be a New York native. The band is terrific, anyway.

Perhaps the medley tracks could have better names? The music seems to wander from theme to theme, many of which sound like Spoonful and have lyrics like "oh baby" and "bring it on home" and such. A tape flip in Smokestack Lightening has been patched not quite perfectly, but the alternative was to lose four measures of music, and you probably won't notice. There was a discontinuity before the final Blues Medley which was probably the encore.

Enjoy!
