Total Time ::: 1:25:33

::: Quite decent audience tape with almost few distractions, in part because Leon hardly takes a breath between songs! Check the samples.
::: (->) refers to ~2 second pauses before launching immediately into the next song.
::: Decided to spend no more time with songlist, but happy to have someone's input for corrections.

Recording Information ::: Sony D-6 portable cassette recorder, probably single Sennheiser microphone -> master mono Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby off

Playback 2011-12-05 ::: master mono Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby off, azimuth & pitch adjusted, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer, EAC secure -> wavs -> Audacity (fades &/or glitches, volume adjustments, no EQ) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. First uploaded 2011-12-16.

Line-up ::: Very likely this the New Grass Revival band backing Leon, but I have no confirmation of that. If he introduces the band on the tape, I missed it. So... Leon Russell - piano, vocals // ? - guitar // ? - bass // ? - fiddle // ? - harmonica // ? - background vocals // ? - background vocals

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

CoolSonics 071 ::: Thanks to the original taper, Lochner! ::: Corrections welcome ::: One of my musical heroes in the early 70's but this era left me wanting. It may still work for others & for whatever reason, there seem to be very few tapes of Leon from this period. The master probably hadn't been played more than a couple of times & probably not in the past 25 years & sounds quite fine. It's now yours to enjoy.

More recordings on the way now that I am able to make up for years of slow netspeed. Kudos to Zongo for life support & Lochner for mikes & much more. A bow to Fast Freddie for runnin' Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace) for over 30 years of trading & friendship. Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Weeks, Dixon, Moore, Gough & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Parrish & all the traders who housed me thru my music acquisition & travel years. Hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Little Queenie (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Kneesfudd

Leon Russell - piano, vocals // ? - guitar // ? - bass // ? - fiddle // ? - harmonica // ? - background vocals // ? - background vocals I do not believe this backing band to be New Grass Revival (NGR). This is based solely on the fact that I have heard NGR live numerous times over the years and also have listened many times to their live album with Leon Russell (the backing vocals sound like neither Sam Bush nor John Cowan of NGR…the song versions are not like those Leon recorded with NGR…and Leon says on “Hold On” that the vocal lead is Jackie Wessell (Leon’s longtime bass player). However, I don’t know who the backing band is other than Jackie Wessell. I will see if my LeonLifer buddies know (they know lots!). Again, thanks for sharing all the Leon live performances with us!
