* with "Paint it Black" short instrumental intro
** lead vocal by Jackie Wessel
^ lead vocal by Chris Simmons
^^ lead vocal by Brian Lee
- boosted entire file by 5db; boosted tracks 19, 20 and 21 an additional 2db afterwards to make the overall volume from loud/soft/loud sections of the show a bit more consistent.
- boosted 6000Hz and 15000Hz frequencies by +2db each for a little more clarity in the high end
- in "Wild Horses" at 1:55, you'll hear me say "Shut up" to a couple of clownholes*** behind me who insisted on talking through almost the entire show. sorry about that; when i'm recording i really, really try to bite my tongue and will always move to avoid talkers when possible. but this was a rare seated show at the independent and i was right behind the last table, with nowhere to move. and because i had positioned myself dead center, just FOB (which is located in the balcony). there was no escape from clowntown.
*** a clownhole is a combination of a clown of a human being (someone, who at least by all outward appearances and behaviors is a sad joke) and an asshole (in the context of a live music event, this type of asshole believes that everything he/she has to say is clearly more compelling than the artist's performance and therefore said 'hole speaks/laughs loudly, inappropriately, rudely and constantly). surely you know the type.

Thoughts
------------------------------------
this was a special night in that i took my father-in-law as my guest. the last show i brought him to was the grateful dead in '92 as a prelude to asking approval for asking his daughter for her hand in marriage. it's been all good ever since. for years i had craved a poster he had in his garage, (poster is circa 1974 i'd say, with Leon in purplish glow wearing a Holy Trinity t-shirt). a few years back he gifted it to me and i had it framed. when i saw the show was going to coincide with my father-in-law's visit north, i knew we had to go.
the show was much better than i thought it would be. i know leon's getting up there in years, but other than vocal issues, i would say he and his band are still kicking up a damn fine rock and roll show. some covers worked better than others, but i was pleased with his selection of originals. the show was well-paced and the band is hot. other than the aforementioned crew of jerks behind us, the crowd was leon-crazy and respectful of the man and the legend. people were there to have a good time and the band knew it.
