LenTalk:

***before BIRD ON THE WIRE (1):
Hello, friends!

***after WHO BY FIRE:
Why are you so warm? How come you're so warm? It's very, very pleasant. Thank you.

***before HEY, THERE'S NO WAY TO SAY GOODBYE:
This song comes out of an old hotel on 34th St. But now it's a quite a different name that it have now ... ... ... . I didn't speak of Irish ..., either at all. I didn't think ... ... ... ... .

***over DO I HAVE TO DANCE ALL NIGHT (1) coda:
On keyboards - Fred Thaylor! (unintelligible). On pedal steel, electric guitar - Sid McGinnis! On the drums, everybody knows him, our ... ... question of life, Luther Rix! My ... ... ... Cheryl Barnes! Laura Brannigan! And near the drummer, our musical director on the bass, Johnny Miller! ... ... ... we'll see you very shortly, good night, we'll be back soon.

***before CHELSEA HOTEL #2:
A long time ago, in those apocalyptic times known as the sixties, there was a great singer who used to stay at a hotel on 21st Street in New York City. And she was looking for somebody much taller than me. Much more beautiful than I am. Yes... ... Kris Kristofferson.
She was looking for him when I used to meet her in the elevator. Very late at night. And we fell into each other's arms by some process of elimination. And I used to watch her across the street in the Bronco Burger ordering hamburgers and looking as ... was playing her song on the jukebox. And I loved her very much on a distance and there was one floor... there was something wonderful about her attitude towards singing. You know, today so many of the lyrics of the songs are about how difficult it is to be a popstar; the trouble getting servants; how difficult it is shop for jewels... And the general burden of being loved by many and being given a great deal of money. These are very serious problems.
There was nothing of that ambiguity in her attitude and... She loved to sing. And when she decided to stop singing, she really decided to stop singing for good. This was in old 1967 in the Chelsea Hotel. This is a song I wrote for Janis Joplin.

***before THE PARTISAN:
(beginning cut) ...your grandparents who were battering my grandparents. It seems so long ago.

***before STORY OF ISAAC:
Now another old song from the old battle between the generations. When the generations ... meet somehow, they meet across the butcher's block.

***before FAMOUS BLUE RAINCOAT:
You know, from another battlefield, that is between men and women, another song...
Everything ... ... ... ... ... agreements very very strong ... .

***before IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED:
Is everything okay?

***before TAKE THIS LONGING:
I wrote this next song for a very great German singer. I don't know anything ... about her. She is very famous outside of Germany. As many German singers are. Name a German singer.
And I wrote this song for a singer who have many times, she's been seen to be ... ... ... ... ... Well, it doesn't matter after all. ... ... .

***after THE BUTCHER:
(beginning cut) ...Sid McGinnis on the guitar, Sid McGinnis! Mr Tricks and ..., Luther Rix! On vocals Cheryl Barnes and Laura Brannigan! Our Music Fuehrer on the bass Johnny Miller!

***before I TRIED TO LEAVE YOU:
[heckler] ...! [Cohen] Pardon?

***after I TRIED TO LEAVE YOU:
Oh, thank you very much for this extremely warm reception. I really appreciate it (also on behalf of) the members of the band. Thank you.

***after the first stanza of BIRD ON THE WIRE (2):
Let's have some lights on now!

***over 2nd refrain to DO I HAVE TO DANCE ALL NIGHT (2):
Get rid of these lights! I can't stand the lights!

***over the coda to DO I HAVE TO DANCE ALL NIGHT (2):
Fred Thaylor on the piano! Fred Thaylor! Sid McGinnis on the guitar! Sid McGinnis! Luther Rix on the drums! Luther Rix! Cheryl Barnes and Laura Brannigan on vocals! ... ... ...! Johnny Miller on bass! Johnny Miller! Thank you! Thank you!
