Len Talk:

***before THE FUTURE:
I've come to bring you the bad news about the future. Give me back the Berlin Wall, give me Stalin and St. Paul, give me Christ ot give me Hiroshima.

***after THE FUTURE:
All right... All right...

***before AIN'T NO CURE FOR LOVE:
When the Prince of Peace was hanging from his final tree and he looked beneath him at the faces filled with bewilderment and envy and malice and greed and melancholy, a level was thrown in the cosmos, and he looked down at all these human faces and he knew. He knew now for certain. He knew there ain't no cure for love.

***after AIN'T NO CURE FOR LOVE:
Julie Christensen! Perla Batalla!

***during BIRD ON THE WIRE:
Bobby Metzger on the guitar!

***after BIRD ON THE WIRE:
Paul Ostermayer on the saxophone!

***before EVERYBODY KNOWS:
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking. Everybody knows the captain lied. Everybody got this broken feeling like their father or their dog just died.

***after EVERYBODY KNOWS:
Bob Metzger on the steel guitar!

***before FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN:
Oh, thank you so much, friends. Thank you for your warm welcome here tonight. And I thank you for the items that you sent me: the monkey and the plywood violin. I've practised every day. Now I am ready. First we take Manhattan then we take Berlin.

***over FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN coda:
Steve Meador on the drums, Jorge Calderon on the bass. See you in a few minutes! Don't go away!

***over TOWER OF SONG intro:
Oh, thank you so much, friends.

***after TOWER OF SONG:
[off mike, to his "foreground" singers]: Thank you.

***after I CAN'T FORGET:
Bob Metzger on the steel guitar!
[off mike]: Hallelujah.

***new intro to SO LONG, MARIANNE:
(Batalla & Christensen):
Here comes the morning boat,
Here comes the evening train,
Here comes Marianna,
To wave goodbye again.

***new last verse in SO LONG, MARIANNE:
(Batalla & Christensen):
Your eyes, I forget your eyes
Your body is at home at every sea
How come you gave your news to everyone
You said it was a secret just for me

***after DANCE ME TO THE END OF LOVE:
Bob Furgo on the violin!

***after DEMOCRACY:
Steve Meador on the drums
!
Steve Meador... on the drums
!

***before COMING BACK TO YOU:
Even in your arms I know I'll never get it right. Even when you bend to give me comfort in the night. I've got to have your word on this, or none of it is true. And all I've said is just instead of coming back to you.

***after COMING BACK TO YOU:
Mr Bill Ginn on the keyboards!

***after I'M YOUR MAN:
Thanks a lot, friends.

***before JOAN OF ARC:
It was deep into his fiery heart, he took the dust of Joan of Arc. And then she clearly understood: if he was fire, oh, and... she must be wood.

***after JOAN OF ARC:
Miss Julie Christensen!

***before CLOSING TIME:
Thank you so much, friends. I wish you a happy 1st of May. I hope that you continue to find amusing
masks to put on. I hope that your social experiment continues successfully. I hope you always welcome me in one degree or another. I really do appreciate the hospitality and I salute you as one man covered with snow to another.
I lift my glass to the awful truth
Which you can't reveal to the ears of youth
Except to say it isn't worth a dime
And the whole damn place goes crazy twice
And it's once for the Devil and it's once for Christ
But the Boss don't like these dizzy heights
We're busted in the blinding lights
Of closing time

***after CLOSING TIME:
Oh, thank you... Thank you so much for your... [hecklers] Pardon? ["!!WE LOVE YOU!!"] Oh, thank you. Thank you so much.

***before TAKE THIS WALTZ:
It was many years ago in a second-hand bookstore in Montreal that I came upon the works of a poet that destroyed my life - I am happy to say. He invited me into his world of ants and crystals, thighs and arches and schools of silver minnows. And as a matter of fact, my daughter's name is Lorca. And she has a nose ring and blue hair. And in every sense exemplifies the teachings of this great poet, Federico Garcia Lorca to whom I offer this homage tonight.

***after TAKE THIS WALTZ:
Thank you so much friends.
