Leslie West / Steve Marriott - 1979, The Firm Demos, ST, 16:26

1: You Don't Own Me
2: Big Train Stops In Memphis
3: Come Back To Me
4: Keeping The Fire

Marriott / West: Guitars / Vocals, Jimmy Leverton: Bass and Danny Hynes: Drums

Leslie confirmed when I asked him about the Firm. Only 4 tracks.

Leslie was surprised I had the demos (a copy) and asked me to send him a CD.

Leslie and his manager Bud Prager killed the band before it got off the ground. West was living at Marriott's L.A. house at the time. Leslie kept hounding Steve about percentages. With him getting the best of a 65 / 35 split. Steve finally said (and this is a quote). "Leslie, why don't you take f*ck all then". Leslie recalls it differently, saying "Steve needed the money, so he reformed Humble Pie". Steve son Toby, recalls when Leslie was living at their house saying "he (Leslie) was the big fat guy who stayed in bed all the time eating chicken and ice cream". (ha-ha).

Plus Leslie wanted to treat the rhythm section as hired hands rather than band mates. Another thing that didn't sit well with Steve. He and Jimmy Leverton were old mates. Leverton later played in Marriott's Packet Of Three in the late 1980s.
