The New York Hot Trumpet Repertory Company, recorded live at DC Space, December 17, 1983, with a Sony TC-150 mono cassette recorder with ALC on a conventional bias Maxell UD-90 cassette. Lester Bowie was joined by Olu Dara ("Next stop, Willoughby"), Stanton Davis, Malachi Thompson, and Bruce Purse. December 17 was a very cold day for DC. DC Space had announced that the NYHTRC would be play Christmas carols that afternoon at a nearby outdoor plaza. About six fans had been huddled in the frigid plaza for some time past the announced starting time when a large station wagon with New York plates pulled up. The occupants assessed the temperature for a few minutes and then drove away with a wave of their hands. This performance should not be confused with the previous spring's performance at the Pension Building (as broadcast on WPFW), which included Wynton Marsalis instead of Bruce Purse.
