Recorded by
John, Mark and Mike with Suzy sneakin' the deck in for us.
Cheers go out to John and Sue.
In 1977 John bought a nice stereo Sony 153 portable recorder and Sue would sneak this giant deck into the shows.
A couple years later John picked up a Teac PC-10 (smaller) and then a couple years later a D-5 (even smaller).
He also upgraded from the nice Sony ecm-280's to the sweet sounding Sennheiser mkh-404 microphones in 1979.
John was willing to let his close friends borrow the equipment as needed.
We were thus able to make high quality recordings of a lot of concerts in the Los Angeles area during the late 70's and 80's.
Some were traded around in the way back days and have shown up on trading sites from those copies.
Here is one of our early recordings with the Sony TC-153 SD (which is still my favorite portable deck).
This is from my R-R copy of the master cassette.

This is one of those tapes that were missing some detail in the documentation.
Thanks to e-tree I was able to figure out the exact date (only had month, year and venue).
From the time period and the sound quality I know the equipment we were using.
Something was wrong here as the tape starts to get some speed warble and then cuts off as Desperado starts.
Missed the second set but what we have sounds nice.
This was a long time ago and without notes I do not remember the problem.
Additionally when I copied this to my reel-reel I left the bias or dolby switch in the wrong position.
This boosted the high end a little too much and thus raised the noise floor.
Enjoy part of a classic Linda Ronstadt and Andrew Gold concert.
For historical reference only and not intended for resale or any commercial use.

TRADE FREELY BUT PLEASE DO NOT SELL

Sue was our ticket to get past the tough Los Angeles area venue security and we all owe her for these tapes.
Most of our collection would never have been possible without Suzie sneekin' the deck in under those long dresses.
