Raised the volume a bit and split a few tracks.
The lights went down just as i was getting into my seat, the show started
exactly at 19.30 as i stumbled to get my recorder going.
The show started by listing all the previous members of the band.
It also included a filmed interview with Alan Hull, filmed around 1971
on Holy Island, other parts of the film have been released on promos
and clips previously. That's the one where the lads are jumping in puddles
and have long hair and afghan coats.
Following last autumn's hugely successful run of Lindisfarne Story shows, it was performed again at the band's spiritual home, Newcastle City Hall, on June 8th, 2013, as part of the month-long Festival of the North East.
The Lindisfarne Story revisits many of the songs from the group's thirteen studio albums. The entire 'Fog On The Tyne' album was performed in sequence, and Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell tell the tale of how Lindisfarne left Tyneside to make their mark in the music business, returning home as one of the biggest bands in the country.
Reaction to the shows in autumn 2012 has been extremely positive, with all six shows selling-out.
The first half was full of chat about the history of the band with
Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell. Discover who arranged all the harmonies on the vocals. Alan's love of words, and how they met Jacka.
The second half featured Ray Laidlaw on drums, and Rod Clements playing a mean slide guitar with the Billy Mitchell band, including Tom Mitchell who did a few lead vocals. Rod himself sings the last three songs on each disc. The night featured the entire Fog On The Tyne album. The show lasted almost three hours, and i missed the last few songs, but captured most of the night.
