A rare two-set three-CD marathon show that shouldn't be passed up because it's an audience
recording. Chris's sound is as good as it gets (with one glitch -- briefly boosted levels
on track four of disc one). You can sense the band and the crowd feeding off each others'
energy. And what a set list! I think of this show as the Bill Payne Special, featuring
three of his best tunes: the rarely played Blue Jean Blues, the beautiful Under the Radar,
and a full six minute-plus Gringo embedded in the Chicken stew. For jam fans, everything
is extended: Richie's Fat Man drum solo, the Dog Race instrumental, and all the courses of
Chicken. Even the encore gets an unusual (for this era) The Weight. A classic that Will
hold its own against soundboard competition.
