BBC Radio 3 (Jazz Line-Up)
Webcast @ 320kbps
17 June 2012
BBC Website > Total Recorder > 16bit/44.1kHz stereo WAV > CD Wave edits > FLAC8
The BBC Radio 3 HD live webcast is far better quality than the 192kbps digital radio service, and a good substitute for the FM service, which is poor quality where I live.
BBC website notes:
Jazz Line-Up presented by Kevin Le Gendre celebrates the 100th birthday of Gil Evans and a performance of his work "Miles Ahead", featuring his son Miles on trumpet together with British trumpeter Henry Lowther. The performance was given on the actual day of Gil Evans 100th birthday "Sunday 13th May" and given by the London Jazz Orchestra conducted by Scott Stroman. The event was exclusively recorded at the Vortex jazz Club in London. The work is unique in that there are no chordal instruments scored and there is only one saxophone (Alto) in the band, the rest is Woodwind, Trombones, Trumpets, French Horns, Tuba and Acoustic Bass.
On the broadcast, Miles Evans (Gil's son) describes the reasoning behind it and speaks of his relationship with his father.
Band Members:
Trumpets: Noel Langley, Mike Lovatt, Robbie Robson, Yazz Ahmed, Adam Chatterton
Trombones: Pete Beachill, Gordon Campbell, Mattias Eskilsson
Bass Trombone: Richard Henry

Alto Saxophone: Martin Speake

Personal Note:
The introductory interview with Miles Evans and Scott Stroman is almost 11 minutes long, is interesting to place the music in context, but can be left off your download without corrupting the following concert.
