::: "The British Are Coming" USA 1972 tour was Fleetwood Mac, Savoy Brown, Long John Baldry.

::: Seems to be John's entire set & he mentions having time issues.
::: Mahalia Jackson died 6 weeks before this gig, hence the tribute.
::: Original upload notes unclear if AUD or SBD, but it's definitely a SBD on FM.

DimeTravel 318 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! This version was remastered from a tape from the Florida Kid. Thanks to him & the original uploader, DIMER karma_. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This is one of my favorite DIME downloads of the past 10 years, tho' it always seemed a bit rough. It was a delight to hear, as I saw Long John & band in summer of '72 & he rocked the stadium - absolutely charismatic & intense performer. I was always a sucker for the gospel/rock/blues mix of the Leon Russell & Delaney & Bonnie ilk, & Long John had it in spades. There is also a cool Faces vibe, of course greatly enhanced by the cover of "Flying", but I'd say Weston's guitar ends up in Faces land at times in other songs as well, playong some on Ron's licks from the album. At any rate, I noticed it had fallen off the tracker & when I went for a listen decided I could lend it a hand in the sound department. Still somewhat of an odd mix, but turn it up & rock on out. The sound for me was much better when mixed to less stereo with some of the vocals & low leys spread into the left channel. We need more live tapes of bands with Bob Weston! For that matter, it would be really great to hear some more pre-80s Long John Baldry. Where the hell are the BBC sessions? Garner says Baldry did sessions from '68-'72. The '72 Peel session looks fantastic & I'm quite sure it's out there. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
