This is the first time I saw/heard Los Lobos in person since the Furthur Festival in Veneta, OR just after Jerry passed away. So glad I did because this band is very hot. I've purchased several CD's over the years but the CD's don't hold a candle to this band live.
Los Lobos is also the loudest band that I've heard at the MACC in many years. As a result. there's a minute or so in the first song - "I Got To Let You Know" - that pinned the meters while recording. That's been fixed as best as I could. It doesn't sound distorted though.
The Vince Esquire acoustic trio opened this show playing differently than they usually do - all on ukulele! BTW - it's pronounced ookoo-lay-lay not you-ku-lay-lay.
They played some interesting versions of Another Brick In The Wall, Eyes Of The World and Harvest Moon (by Neil Young). It was a very short set and I missed one of their original tunes but if there's enough interest, I'll post that set. Check out the Vince Esquire website because he really should get some further recognition. When Little Feat was here several years ago, they asked him to join them onstage (find that show at the Live Music Archive).
As for this Los Lobos show, if anyone can fill in the song titles I didn't know - please do.
