Los Lonely Boys
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 3, 2014

Another year of WBF recordings. Recorded from KBOO FM in Portland, OR. A great lineup again this year. I was looking forward to Greg Allman's set, but he had to pull out due to sickness. Oh well, I wouldn't have been able to share him here anyway. Seems to be much more DJ talking this year, interrupting some music. I just left it in rather than trying to edit each show. Feel free to make any changes you wish for personal use.

I may need help with some of the set list's as I don't know all the bands.

Enjoy, twofthrs

Hailing from San Angelo, Texas, Los Lonely Boys are a sibling trio whose music draws equally from Rock, Blues, Tex-Mex, Conjunto, and Tejano. Such a combination is shaped by the bands three brothers: guitarist Henry Garza, bassist JoJo Garza, and drummer Ringo Garza, Jr. Their father, Ringo Garza, Sr., was himself a member of a sibling band (the Falcones) during the 70s and 80s. Soon after, Garza went solo, backed by his three sons even before they reached their teens. The family relocated to Nashville in the 1990s, and the sons emerged as a group separate from their father.

After moving back to Texas, the boys recorded their debut album, 2003's Los Lonely Boys, at Willie Nelsons Pedernales studio in Austin with Nelson sitting in. Epic Records picked the album up for major-label distribution in March 2004, resulting in a high chart placement for the albums lead single, Heaven, as well as a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance the following year. The Boys released their eagerly awaited sophomore album, Sacred, in 2006, and Forgiven followed in 2008. A holiday album, Christmas Spirit, also appeared in 2008, and the band hit the road for an acoustic tour one year later, punctuated by the release of the covers-only 1969 EP.

Though touring nearly constantly, the trio has stayed deeply rooted to community causes. They recorded the single Solid Ground, about the Family Justice Center of Erie County (which won the Austin-based CTK Foundations Heart and Soul grant for 2009). The FJC provides services for victims of domestic violence. Written with poet Nancy Ghoston, Solid Ground was released in January of 2010.

In the spring of 2010, JoJo Garza developed lesions on his vocal cords, which caused the band to cancel its spring tour in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. But Los Lonely Boys came back strong with their first new studio offering of all original material in three years 2011's Rockpango. Then, during a February 2013 concert in California, Henry Garza fell off the stage and suffered a serious spinal injury. He spent a good chunk of 2013 recovering, after which the band began work on its next album. Again, the Boys came back fast and strong with Revelation in January 2014, an album that finds them revitalized and ready to rock festival stages all over the world.
