Lou Reed
Odeon, Paris, France

Got this one from one of the Lou blogs. As usual. Sadly, no lineage info. Bot says
I didn't post it before. But I found some text about this recording in a 2005 upload
by mg196. But be aware that the flacs are NOT from mg196.

Ahh...from the legendary Berlin aka Rock 'N' Roll Animal tour! Hunter & Wagner
are right in front of the mix and sound brilliant. Actually, they sound a
helluva lot better than Lou who forgets some lines and seems pretty tired. Must
have been a bad dose of amphetamines?!
Anyways, I don't see this one pop up very often. Hunter/Wagner shows are sorta
difficult to come by, which is too bad because so many Lou fans feel this is the
best band he would ever have. (Personally, I like his late 70's band, The
Everyman Band, just as much). This is a great example of what Steve & Dick
could do.
Here is a Steve Hunter quote from an interview in Vintage Guitar:
>>That band definitely took Lou Reed into a different direction. Reed talks bad
about the Rock 'N' Roll Animal and Lou Reed Live albums we played on now. He
puts that whole era down. Well, in every place we ever played back then, the
press was always putting down Lou Reed and talking about the great guitars of
Hunter and Wagner. He hated that! He came to us during the tour and made us stop
playing to the audience and entertaining them because we were stealing his show.
We didnt mean to, we were just hot! We did a lot of great work together and Im
very proud of it. Playing guitar with Steve Hunter was one of the highlights of
my career.<<
Soundwise, this is definitely above-par, but not superb...a "B" perhaps. There
are occasional drop-outs and static (I think the taper was having trouble w/ the
recording levels). As usual I have not filtered/edited this at all. I refuse
to edit my shows at all if it means losing any of the original information (i.e.
frequencies). This is a great example of what Steve & Dick could do.
