Here you have a handful of nice Beatles-Covers and a lovely original tune of the Love & Tears! Well, now this one was really my first recording of unofficial live stuff, off a radio broadcast. I found it on one of my first cassette tapes, when I started to go and listen through my tape collection one by one. The sound quality of the old tapes is better than I thought, and so is this one!
When I started collecting music with my new tape-recorder in 1972 of course I had to get the Beat stuff from the 60ies (Beatles, Gerry & Pacemakers, Everly Brothers, The Rattles...) from the 60ies, which was still aired very often on the radio. So I came across this FM-Live event of a recent german beat band. I picked only two sequences from the broadcast as I was picky just to catch what I liked, this Beatles-Medley and the song, which was the backside of their single "Needles & Pins"(1971) - having been also a cover version of The Searchers. The song "And Your Love Is" was released with a big string-orchestra applied. This recording has still the mersey beat style.
I try to get the right azimuth-alignment as usual. But even then there is an uneven balance in the mono recording between the two channels, here about 3 dB in volume. Now I compared the frequencies of the two channels separately (after increasing the volume of the left channel) and there was a huge difference up to 7 dB in the middle and high frequences. So I took only the right channel, and left it mono for this transfer! Any feedback esp. for this technical theme is welcome!
Love & Tears (1971-1974) were from Göttingen, Germany, and started in 1964 as the "The Original Blue Moons" or (later) The Blue Moons. They had a self-titled LP in 1972, released as CD also.
