Lucinda Williams
10/04/81
KUT-FM, Austin, TX
Excellent "Classic" Lucinda.
Probably SDB or FM?

Accompanied by Walter Hyatt on guitar and Champ Hood on fiddle.

I loved, loved, loved Lucinda after I first heard her music in the late 70's (the 70's and 80's are still my favorite LW years) and this one's the earliest magnetic memory of her I've got.

It' a stellar performance by Lucinda, she sounds relaxed and comfortable, and the men accompanying her on fiddle and guitar shine.

It's an wonderful set for someone like me who loves her early years. She plays what were even by then some of her standards and also some new tunes that hadn't been recorded yet. At one point she even acknowledges to the small audience that she knows people there are taping her and lets them know her songs are copyrighted. :-)

If you love LW, it will be hard not to love this disc. I hope you do.

ps. The source wasn't specified when I got this in trade, but it's a great sounding recording of an on-air show that I received in trade six or seven years ago. Maybe a clue to it's lineage?: there's one brief glitch at about 11 seconds into track 5 (doesn't effect the music, she's intro'ing the song.) It only lasts a fraction of a second and sounds like someone put their finger on one of the reels of an the eight track, or leaned on it by mistake, while copying from a reel to reel recording. Anyway, if those here who are capapble of examining the wav files decide to analyze it, I'll go with whatever the consensus is. And I've checked and don't think these particular recordings are on her official live releases, so I hope they'll fly here. dn
